If I upload documents the feature works fine. If I create a new document with New Document word crash after few seconds.

I am using WSS 3.0 with CodePlex script 'Show SharePoint Version in Office Documents Version 1.0". The client PC has: Windows XP Prof 2002 SP3 and Word 2003. The SharePoint site and document library is configured according to the instructions, delivered with the script.

Problem 1: The library column 'Approver By' is not fille correctly with the name of the person who approved the pending document. In stead it shows the of the person who modified the document.

Problem 2: When using the field 'Approved By' in a Word document, it is populated with the value '8' in stead of the name which is displayed in the library view.

Can anyone help me solving this issue ?

I see this problem also. When a document is approved by a user the "Approved By" field gets updated to "System Account" which is incorrect. It should be updated to the User who actually approved the document.

Created Issue: Using On Document Library Template [7632]

This doesn't work well when using it with a document library template. In order to show metadata columns on the template you first have to save the template as a document into the document library.
This is a SharePoint fundamental problem where you have to store templates in the document library where you want to create documents from those templates.

When you surface the "Approved By" or "Approved Version" on the template it then shows the Approved Version for the template on all documents that use that template rather than showing the Approved Version for the current document.
So when you create a new document it shows version "1.0" as the Approved Version rather than blank version (because it is showing the template version).

Fundamental flaw in SharePoint proving that it is not up to Enterprise level as a document management system.
